BioDISCLAIMER: This is where you go to check in on me if you're a not-overly-close friend from Albion or Valley who wants to verify that I'm still alive and not in prison or something, and wishes to avoid being trapped in an awkward, stilted IM conversation with me. "So... how are things?" "Good." "Good!" Or, if you're a real friend that actually cares, this is where you listen to me complain about working retail and make jaded, snide commentaries on celebrities. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: I am currently underachieving in the state of Colorado, dividing my time being a long-term temp in the standardized testing industry and supplementing that with working at Target in a variety of roles. I believe that in life, you can choose to find everything funny or nothing funny, and I choose to find everything funny. Other people provide great entertainment for me, what can I say?
LIKES: chili cheese Fritos (which is the snack food that overrides any self-control I have), hating on celebrities, writing, esoteric trivia, opportunities to show off said pointless trivia knowledge, sarcasm, the music of Ben Folds, 60-year-old mystery novels, understanding obscure allusions, thinking up fake rock band names, good Mexican food, that scene in Clue where Madeline Kahn is all "I hated her so much.... it flamed flames... flames on the side of my face", the reruns of Northern Exposure on every night on channel 12 in Denver, Denny's at 1 AM, hanging out with Will and having lengthy conversations on topics no one else would find interesting, ditto for Krista, using large vocabulary words in front of people that only sort of know what they mean, and, of course, Keith's mom.
DISLIKES: call centers in India with useless employees, Kevin Federline, most blockbuster summer movies, those stupid Heelies shoes, people with no sense of humor about themselves, living a thousand miles away from all of my friends, olives, cold soggy french fries, North Dakota, emotionally manipulative radio telethons with the tales of sick children and songs about angels, high-maintenance-y people, the smell of artificial popcorn butter, mangoes, self-righteousness, grouchy older men who have contempt for anyone under thirty, pop culture snobs, bleu cheese, Tom Cruise, and, most of all, hipsters.
THINGS I LIKE BUT AM MILDLY EMBARRASSED TO ADMIT I LIKE: the music of Sting, Grey's Anatomy, listening to the ridiculous drama my twenty-ish co-workers at Target create in their personal lives and thinking of how to turn it into a script for a network television drama set in a discount retailer, playing air cowbell in the car while singing along (tunelessly) to "Don't Fear the Reaper," and watching game shows and suspecting I'm smarter than the contestants and could kick their asses.
